Move Your Community Forward With Federal Grants Training!

Billions of federal grant dollars are awarded to worthy causes each year, but the federal grants arena is not kind to beginners nor for the faint of heart. The stakes with federal funding are often much higher than with private funders and the guidelines are more complex and less forgiving. That makes federal funding a real challenge but one that can also be very rewarding when it's a good 'fit.' Tip the odds in your favor with our government grants seminar, Competing for Federal Grants.

During this workshop, you will:

  • Find federal grants opportunities that match your organization’s mission and priorities
  • Examine recent application guidelines and funded proposals to see what works, what doesn’t, and why
  • Develop a work-plan for proposal development and write key proposal sections
  • Write and review concept papers
  • Learn to get a head start on competitions before the funding guidelines are released
Thanks for this excellent training! Two months later I applied for my first federal grant. Our college was one of only 10 awardees in the nation and will receive nearly $750,000 over three years. I really appreciate the encouragement and instruction.

You get expert guidance

Every one of our trainers is an active and prolific grant proposal writer who has won millions of dollars in federal competitions. They know what’s happening in the field right now — and they’re here to help you.

Who should take this training?

This training is a great resource for all types of organizations that compete — or plan to compete — in the federal arena: state, county, and local agencies, educational institutions, hospitals, private nonprofit organizations, and even for-profit organizations that are eligible for specific programs. This fast-paced, intensive federal grants seminar is not recommended for those new to the grant development field. For those just starting out we recommend either the Grantsmanship Training Program® or Essential Grant Skills courses before you participate in the Competing for Federal Grants training so that you get the most benefit from your investment of time and money.

A savvier government grant training

Don’t just sit there, learn by doing! Draft critical parts of a federal grant in class, then assess the work to learn how funders review proposals. You leave with copies of the work produced, a network of colleagues to contact, and six months of follow-up support from the Center via our Membership Program.

As a graduate of Competing for Federal Grants, you receive our Full Alumni Membership for six months. This helps you:

  • Strengthen a proposal by having it reviewed by one of our trainers
  • Find funders through GrantStation, our partner providing a user-frieindly database of grantmakers
  • Upgrade your own skills with tuition discounts on other training programs, publications, and consulting services
  • Find the answers you need. Ask The Center!
